Shen Yun Review: Prince Jean d’Orléans, Duke of Vendôme (France)

“I think it’s very good. We need this today. We’re too materialistic, so we need to escape a little. We need poetry, and then we need this connection, with heaven, with the divine. And everything we’ve seen in the show helps us to make that connection. I think it’s important that people don’t lose sight of where they come from, and their purpose here. The idea of devoting oneself to someone who has created everything, a divine being—I think it’s important for us to remember that. I was very moved that I could see a show like this today… And here we are, presented with a multitude of stories, peoples, and cultures, as well as a multitude of ethnic groups, traditional costumes, poems, and in particular, stories from different regions of China, which I find very, very interesting, and I learned a lot from them… When you don’t know your past, it’s hard to know your future. I think in today’s world, where people don’t make reference to history, tradition and culture are very important. And when you have 5,000 years of culture it gives you a strong foundation. Nowadays, people are too busy with everyday life, where there are things that are not beautiful, but this show lets you escape into another universe with color, poetry, and humor, which is the exact opposite of what we experience in daily life.”
